Exchange of Angolan kwanza in Katowice

Current exchange rate of Angolan kwanza to Polish zloty at the MAX currency exchange office in Katowice

The Angolan Kwanza AOA is the currency of Angola, introduced on January 8, 1977, replacing the Angolan escudo. The name comes from the Kwanza River, which flows through the territory of Angola. Since 1999, the kwanza has been 100 centimes. Previously, Angolas currency was the Lwea, named after the Lwea River, a tributary of the Kwanza. Currently, exchange coins are not minted or used. The first kwanza was introduced on January 8, 1977, replacing the Angolan escudo in a 1:1 ratio. On September 25, 1990, the first kwanza was replaced by a new kwanza (AON) in the same ratio (1:1). On July 3, 1995, the revised kwanza was issued as a monetary unit that circulated concurrently with the new kwanza. On December 13, 1999, the replacement of both New Kwanza (AON) and Adjusted Kwanza (AOR) with Modern Kwanza (AOA) began.
